GOOD for the world

When we were crEating NONA, we had to estimate how many ingredients we would neEd, every week, every month, for an entire year. The quantities were staggering. We realised that most companies use this power to squeeze their suppliers and maximise their own profits. But we realised that you can make other choices. That you can choose to bypass big business, and buy directly from honest family-owned farmeRs and producers, and support their hard work. We don’t maximise our profits by doing that, but we do achieve something much more fulfilling, we DO GOOD.

And that’s how our philosophy came to be, to “DO GOOD”. We want to serve GOOD FOOD, proper, honest, Italian food, made with seasonal, organic ingredients from local farmers. We want to WORK with, and support, GOOD PEOPLE, and we want to tell their stories. The local farmers and producers, the local makers, and our own team of employees, each of whom put their heart and soul into their work. AND We want to Do GOOD FOR THE WORLD. We use organic ingredients as much as we can, we are CO2-neutral, and we have developed our own education programme, NONA LIFE, to invite you to discover where your food comes from.

That’s how we chose our name. NONA = No Name, because our philosophy, our way of working, and the name of our suppliers, is more important than our name.

Welcome to our way of living. We say : “it’s a NONA LIFE”

Our Founder, Sebastian, on behalf of everyone at Nona.

Our education programme

We’ve learned a lot from our farmers and suppliers.

They’ve taught us to think carefully about the food on our plates - where it comes from, how it’s grown and the impact we’re making by choosing to eat it. We wanted to find a way to spread the message, and share all this good stuff with the people around us.

That’s where our NONA LIFE Education programme comes in.

We aim to educate (younger) consumers by giving them the KNOWLEDGE to choose their food wisely - for THE JOY OF EATING, THEIR BODIES, AND the planet.

We’ve been visiting schools, sharing everything we know about organic farming, suppliers, sourcing locally and just how much better a tomato tastes when it’s in season. We even bring some along with us, just to prove it.

IF YOU ARE A TEACHER, A YOUNG ADULT, OR A NONA GUEST, AND WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT WHERE YOUR FOOD COMES FROM, PLEASE REACH OUT TO US AT EDUCATION@NONALIFE.COM

We’re C02 neutral (and proud)

Perfect pizza, handmade pasta and an atmosphere warmer than homemade chilli oil is one thing. But we want to do more.

We’re working hard to become a completely carbon neutral company. And we’re happy to say our menu is now 100% CO2 neutral.

We work closely with experts to calculate our emissions - from the ovens and lights in our kitchens to the vehicles transporting our ingredients from farms to our door. We use locally-sourced, organic ingredients to reduce the space between farm and fork, supporting producers who work with the seasons and respect the land. We’ve also replaced wine bottles with bag-in-a-box wine. Just as delicious - but much lighter to transport.

As for the CO2 we do emit, we offset every last drop by funding a programme bringing super-efficient clay stoves to communities in East Africa.

Of course, we can always do better. And we’ll never stop working on ways to lighten up our footprint.

So watch this space.

We took a delicious trip to Naples to learn all about Neapolitan pizza, the art of pasta-making, and the joy of using homegrown ingredients. Here’s what we found…
